1. Use a third party app such as Pixel Bootloader Unlocker. If you plug the phone into a computer, the computer will automatically download the unlock file.
2. Create the file yourself and flash it with the USB cable. For the phone to recognize and install it, it needs to be flashed from a computer, not the phone itself. You can do this by connecting the phone and computer, then from the computer, right-click to extract the file, then right-click again to flash the file to the phone.
When unlocking the bootloader on the Pixel 2 XL (Android Oreo), you need to unlock it on another device, connect the two, then unlock the bootloader of the second device and unlock the bootloader on the Pixel 2 XL.
I got the phone from a seller on ebay, and it seems that he has already unlocked the bootloader, but I can not get it done. I put it into fastboot, I tried all methods to unlock the bootloader, but nothing works.
I can see it in the bootloader screen when I insert it into my computer. The only thing I can do is to disable the secure lock, then boot into recovery mode and insert a USB to re-enable the secure lock. But this does not work. For unlocking it via command line, I tried fastboot oem unlock, but I get the following error.
Unfortunately, this does not work with any other command such as fastboot oem recover or fastboot -i 0 oem unlock or fastboot -i 0 oem lock. After unlocking the bootloader, I can not boot into the recovery mode, and I get the following error:
