The USB hostap driver does not create the /dev/wlan1 (or anything similar) that is expected on linux platform. It is recommended that you would install hostapd instead. The main reason for this is that hostapd has its own kernel module that loads automatically when you plug the device in and it also has monitor/injection modes and a lot more features that hostap driver lacks. You can find more info on hostapd here: hostapd
So to summarize, if you are using a Prism 2 / 3 series card, you would need to use hostapd. To use the card with hostapd, you can edit the wlan-ng.conf file to use hostapd instead of hostap. But note that hostapd does not support all the features of hostap driver. I hope I covered all the cases.
The ZyDAS ZyXEL ZD1211B chipset is a PCI chipset for laptops. There are two similar chipsets, but only one is supported. The driver is not as good as the ZD1211, but it is stable. The ZyDas AirLive is well supported, but the driver has not been tested extensively. It seems to work, but I have not used it for a long time.
The Atheros AR5007EG chipset has been notoriously difficult to get working in aircrack-ng. When it works, it works good, however it has been problematic. The driver can be made to work by recompiling it, but due to the way injection patches are generated, this isn't really the best method. Also, you still need to use madwifi-hal-0.9.0 and patch the driver.
The Zydas ZD1211 chipset is a real pain. It is not easy to get working with most commercial cards. It seems the only way to get it working is to use aircrack-ng and then use madwifi-hal-0.9.0 to patch the driver. The card can be a little unstable, but works well on Linux.
The Orinoco cards are not the newest, but they are commonly used and work well. The Orinoco cards have been a target of interest for the security community, and as a result we are now seeing better support for them. The driver is now stable with the latest patches. It is still a bit temperamental, but doing things like switching between channels with it seems to make things stable and stable injection is possible now.
The stamp is a fancy word for a marking, and it's commonly found on silver jewelry. The stamp in the picture is stamped on the inside of a ring, where the marking specifies the quality of silver used to make the ring. Most jewelry is stamped with a number, letter, or both. Here are the most common markings. 827ec27edc
