Every Journey Begins with a First Step – This is Mine!

I’ve been an entrepreneur and business owner for over 45 years. The only time I’ve worked for someone else was right out of college. I was an operating room technician at Richmond Memorial Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. It was there I discovered teaching would be my richest source of learning. Since that time, I’ve been self-employed. In 1975 I became the youngest person to pioneer U.S. Surgical Stapling instruments. It was during this time I discovered the value of being a good presenter and the impact the spoken word has on others. These early lessons have been invaluable to me and my career.

Looking back I’ve accomplished more than I thought I would but never as much as I knew I could. Experience has taught me a lot, but the pursuit of business education has taught me even more. As Cavett Robert, founder of the National Speakers Association says, “Learning from the school of hard knocks is very informing, but the tuition is too high! We should learn from other people’s experiences.”

The purposes of my Blogs are to share the wisdom of business education as well as my own business experience to other managing-leaders. When you combine great business education with your own business experience the outcome you’ll receive is far greater than the sum of its parts. The guiding coalition for my blogs will be; “The Golden Rule not only makes good moral sense, but it makes good business sense too!”
